Commitment Of Our Flagship Programme:
CG RSA FLASH GATE is committed to implementing a comprehensive range of road safety initiatives throughout the year, despite facing funding constraints since our inception in 2018. Our activations and programmes are informed by the unique challenges and needs of each season, ensuring that our efforts are targeted, effective, and responsive to the needs of all road users. Our key initiatives are driven by our flagship programme, DTRSA FLASH GATE, keeping road safety at the forefront of our efforts. We prioritize strategic partnerships with government entities, such as road safety-related agencies and transport stakeholders, as well as private sector entities, to advance road safety and create a safer transportation environment for all.
Our Multi-purpose Approach To Road Safety: Consisting Of Two Key Sectors
Our flagship program, Decentralized Traffic Road Safety Angel (DT RSA-Flash Gate), is a comprehensive initiative designed to achieve the overall objectives, mission and vision of CG RSA FLASH GATE. Through a dual-sector approach, divided into two key sectors, our flagship program ensures an adaptive and comprehensive approach to road safety landscaping in South Africa, addressing the complex challenges of road safety through a multifaceted strategy.
Sector 1: Proactive Road Safety Education and Advocacy
This sector focuses on decentralizing and mobilizing road safety education, awareness, and advocacy initiatives. Through various campaigns and activations, we engage with road users, promote responsible behavior, and foster a culture of road safety. We prioritize collaboration efforts with transport stakeholders, including government departments, schools, universities, churches, taxi ranks, and other key transportation hubs.
Our Year Round Road Initiatives For High Risk Travelling Periods
Through our year-round road safety initiatives we intensify our efforts during high-risk traveling periods, such as the festive season, back to school and work periods, Easter holidays, back to school and work periods after Easter, long weekends, and public holidays, we aim to reduce road crashes and fatalities. Our community-based programs focus on promoting road safety awareness, fostering shared responsibility, and driving positive change.
The High Risk Travelling Periods Strategy:
These high-risk traveling periods pose a significant challenge to road safety in South Africa, as they coincide with a substantial increase in road traffic volume. During peak travel periods, millions of people take to the roads, heading to various destinations for holidays, social gatherings, and other purposes. Unfortunately, this increased traffic volume, combined with factors such as driver fatigue, reckless driving, drank–driving, speeding, and vehicle unroadworthiness, contributes to a significant surge in road crashes and fatalities. As a result, CG RSA FLASH GATE intensifies its efforts during these periods, leveraging our expertise and resources to promote road safety awareness and education, and ultimately reduce the number of road crashes and fatalities in South Africa.
Adaptive Road Safety Campaigns/ Initiatives:
Our key road safety campaigns or initiatives are designed to work interchangeably to promote road safety awareness and education among all road users. These campaigns are adaptive to each season of the year, taking into account the unique challenges and needs of high-risk traveling periods. Through a combination of community-based programs, partnerships, and advocacy efforts, we aim to make a meaningful impact on road safety in high-risk areas.
GG RSA FLASH GATE Road Safety Gateway:
Through our year-round Road Safety Gateway Campaign, operating under the slogan “Advocacy Driven Road Safety Action”, we not only talk about road safety but take action, making it a social responsibility. This campaign allows us to be flexible in various road safety initiatives, with adaptive activations and advocacy initiatives designed to fit each season of the year. By taking this approach, we are able to address the specific needs and challenges of each season, promoting road safety awareness and action throughout the year.
City-to-City Meet & Greet Wishing Travellers Safe Journeys (CTC-MGWTSJ)
This campaign is a drive-through campaign where our team travels to various transport hubs, meets with road users and travellers, and interacts with them through music, games, quizzes, and giveaways. During this campaign, we also engage with radio stations, hosting competitions and promoting road safety awareness. We set up gazebos, distribute road safety materials, and interact with the public to promote responsible road user behavior.
Road Safety Gateway Campaign Details:
The Road Safety Gateway Campaign is a comprehensive initiative aimed at promoting road safety awareness and education during high-risk traveling periods. High-risk traveling periods refer to times of the year when road crashes and fatalities tend to increase due to various factors such as increased traffic volume, festive season celebrations, and adverse weather conditions.
